REspiratory Orientation and fit Testing
Course Outline

APR or Air Purifying Respirators need to be fit tested by a qualified person on a scheduled basis. Timing depends on type of testing and provincial requirements.
We the Safe Consulting Inc. use a qualitative fit test system to exceed CSA Z94.4-02. This standard is referenced in most provincial regulations. Prior to the fit testing an orientation is performed to ensure the user understands the basic principles of using an air purifying respirator for protection from hazards. Orientations and fit testing can be performed in our training center or on site.
During the orientation our instructor will review:
Elements of a respiratory program including responsibilities
Hazards assessment review
Known contaminants found in their workplace
Filters and cartridge selection/ identification
Negative pressure
APR limitations
Maintenance and cleaning of their respirators
Fit check, fit test and schedule

Workers and the instructor fill out a fit test form to document the session as per CSA requirements.
A sticker is issued and all records are kept on file at We the Safe Consulting Inc.
